ASCLS is pulling together helping each other and our communities.
We at the University of Minnesota use a digital slide database of hematology slides for teaching and have expanded the database to include somebody's fluid slides, as well as gram stains and a few parasitology slides.
We will be offering this database for free until 5/31/2020. Any MLS or MLT program that needs to use this resource in the coming months can request a free license by visiting the website linked HERE.
This is a no-cost license that is normally available only to Minnesota system institutions.
For those clients that have already paid the license fee, your subscription will be extended by 75 days to account for this free availability.
These accounts do take some time to set up. If you sign up and do not receive an email with login credentials within 48 hours, please contact umndigitalslide@umn.edu or email me directly at wiesn003@umn.edu. There is basic user documentation on the website, but if there is a need, I am able to host an online meeting to walk instructors through the basics of navigating the system.

In following up with yesterday's conference call, below are several links, resources, and updates:
- A Google Doc and included all the links shared in the chat. Here's a link to the Google Doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-l5TWkOUDb-Z8o525qtH6c1xS1V0qjqP36GgsiGmdkU/edit?usp=sharing. If you have other links to share, please send them to me and I will add them to the Google Doc.
- Labster update: I've contacted the Chancellor's Office and am looking into ways to potentially make Labster available for faculty and their students to use in their courses. Labster is a virtual lab program with modules that you can drop into your courses on Canvas. If you haven't seen Labster before, you can check it out here: https://www.labster.com/
- Here is the link to the Google Doc with Online Biotech Teaching Resources from Sandy Porter of Bio-Link/InnovATEBIO: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nZSFpcnqA8ULjjOII_vP4fwwge5KpFHHquz2obL4VYs/edit#gid=0
- Sandy Porter mentioned that Bio-Link/InnovATEBIO is talking about having a webinar series that features tools for teaching biotech online such as virtual biomanufacturing platforms, etc. Here is a link to complete a survey indicating your preferences for such teaching tools: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmPPlOePODvsotxJJiH4OqvxkQNLQ59uo6S7c08U67QtaH7g/viewformhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmPPlOePODvsotxJJiH4OqvxkQNLQ59uo6S7c08U67QtaH7g/viewform
