CAHIIM updates from their Town Hall webinar meeting on 3/27/20:

  • Access for students to complete 40 hours of Professional Practice Experience (PPE) is a challenge for many programs due to COVID-19.
  • Professional Practice Experience (PPE) can be completed with some virtual, rigorous assignments and will need some review or oversight by HIM professionals.  This oversight can be through the use of technology per the webinar on file (see link below).  Alumni and Advisory Board Members are a resource for this.  Check CAHIIM link below for specifics on guidance.   
  • Virtual Assignments can be utilized with platforms, such as eHRGO, that can support the PPE requirements- please see the link below.
