Health Sector Team Collaboration
The Health Workforce Initiative Team met on Thursday, February 20 at the Foundation for the California Community Colleges Hub for their quarterly meeting. Samantha Fisher, Vice President of Partnerships with Calbright College provided an overview of mission, and vision for initiatives with the online college. A short discussion on how the team can work with Samantha and her team to support the needs of industry in the future and how we can provide support for professional development opportunities for the health care workforce.
The team reviewed the Vision for Success (VFS) and metrics to assure alignment. Work of the Regional Directors of Employer Engagement discussed the core commitments to support the VFS. We also review the current workgroups that our industry advisory identified as key area of focus which includes, Health Management / Technology / Cyber Security; Nursing Education; Behavioral / Mental Health; Public Health / Community Health Worker; Certified Nurse Assistant. It was concluded that some of these areas will be sunset as there are statewide activities revolving such workgroups as the Nursing Education work with Health Impact. Two additional workgroups were discussed to add would be the Opticianry workgroup and BioTech/ Health Sector Workgroup.
The Health Sector Team consists of 10 Regional Directors of Employer Engagement from all ten regions statewide. These members consist of Registered Nurses, Ph.D., Social Workers, MBAs and Health Administrators. More about the team can be found at the website at ca-hwi.org
